do you still need to beat the game to make a hardcore character? if so i think everyone needs to get themselves a hardcore hack before the game gets patched.

simple solution w/o DLing third party programs:

If you don't have access to such an account the easiest way is to go through the following steps. I've tried to make this as simple as possible due to some people having inhibitions against messing with their registry.

1) Go to the Start menu, and open the program called Notepad (it's in the Accessories folder of the start menu).
2) Copy and paste the text below into a newly created document:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Diablo II]
"AllowHardcore"=dword:00000001
----

3) Press Ctrl+S (or alternatively File --> Save As…) and save the document with the name allowhc.reg making sure the Save as type: is "All Files".
4) Double click on the file you just created, click YES that you do want to add the information to the registry, and click OK afterwards.
5) Proceed to create HC characters at your leisure.

Wow, they are picking the worst builds ever.
You can't really use melee characters because if you don't get the equiptment, you are useless. Minus javazons which get their damage from their magic mainly.

It just seems like they need to figure out what the hell they are doing because it seems like for the most part the builds don't mesh into a party that will be helping each other. They won't get very far.

My guess is Act 4 NM is where that party will start falling apart.

Can we get this organized by the end of this weekend? Maybe meet on Diablo or something and make sure the vent servers are all good and everyones mic is working if you have one. And those without a mic could at least hear what people are saying. And to make sure everyones account is on my friend list and has the game installed and ready. I'll be home from work tomorrow at 8:30pm. On Monday I should be home probably after 6:00pm. Tuesday I'll wake up for the time the servers are scheduled to go down. And then nap in hour intervals, like last time, checking up on Diablo and the chatroom.

We definitely need to get friend lists set up in advance.

I have a 3rd party headset I bought to use with my x360 when my original headset stopped working. It plugs in with a standard small connector- will I be able to plug it into my pc and use ventrillo? I need to try to get that set up and working before tuesday too.

I'll dick around with D2 for a bit tonight after work- perhaps midnight EST or so.

Also, since it will get EXTREMELY monotonous to be constantly checking the realms for the reset, we might conasider exchanging cell numbers so everyone doesn't have to sit around like a retard for what might take hours.

2 hours? Our last run had us in Normal for 3.5 hours, after which we spent 30 minutes running Baal. I don't think high level enchant can shave that much time off, can it? Two hours to clear Normal seems ridiculous- the bulk of the time is just getting through areas, not really fighting. Wishful thinking on his part?

It took us over 3 hours to get through normal last time and we absolutely hauled ass. I started teleporting through shit at level 18 and we literally plowed through everything. I don't see how its possible to improve our time by over an hour. Killing speed/damage output was not an issue.

If I recall, there was some complications early on. Like the wrong people were in the room. And everyone was trying to figure out who didn't belong. Then people died and stuff. So mean, there is definitely room for improvement.

I think A2 could have been a bit faster. Like finding the Viper Temple took longer than expected I think. But that is all a matter of luck on how the map spawns. Its just luck of the draw. Same with A3.

Don't be a hero. If your scurred let me Leap a path. Figuring I have it maxed by then. But I need to make sure my lightning resist is up, because gloams can kill my leap barb leaping a path if my light resist is junk. Because sometimes a gloam can get a shot it, even with the leap stun. And then if that lightning stuns me and I can't get another leap. All the gloams attack me at once and it is gg.

Just be a hero when you know you aren't gonna die. Because dieing in normal is just bad. But I suppose it is better than dieing in late nightmare or something and we need you and there are no parties up to us to get a replacement for without having to rush them through an act or two. Which is a total waste.

I think we should be fine in the sense that we will all get in on Diablo as soon as the server is up. Does anyone know when the servers went down and came back up last time? I know this is the first time they are actually giving us a time. But did it take exactly 6 hours last time or what? Because after a 4 hour wait, I think it is fair game to say that the servers can be up at any time. And at that point we should all be either on vent or in the diablozone chatroom or BOTH. Because last time I was just surfing the web until someone said that it is up. At which point I hopped on. I don't think cell phone number exchanging will be necessary figuring everyone here waits out at least 1.5 hours until the official 6 hours is up.

EDIT: With people moving around and stuff. What are the parties now? Someone needs to really organize like what is gonna happen. And put up everyones account name in an organized list for me to go on and add everyone.
